Credit Union History

Coloramo Federal Credit Union was established with an Organization Certificate on June 8, 1953 issued by the Bureau of Federal Credit Unions. It started with eight original members purchasing one share at the par value of $5, providing assets of $40. Today, Coloramo serves 8,896 members with assets of $79.7 million.

Credit Unions are cooperatives. A cooperative (co-op) belongs to the people who use it, and operates solely for the members' benefit. The member-owners share equally in the co-op's direction, either directly as a volunteer, or by electing the board of directors that oversees policies and hires top management to run the daily business. It is a responsibility and privilege for members to contribute to the successful growth, direction, and integrity of the Credit Union.

Membership continues after leaving your employer, or the geographic area. Once a member, always a member!
In April 2009, Coloramo joined the Shared Branching network. As a member of Coloramo, you can conduct transactions at over 5,000 credit union locations nationwide. What does this mean to you? CONVENIENCE!

How Does Shared Branching Work?

You can conduct the following transactions at CU Service Center Shared Branching locations:

To find a CU Service Center near your home, office, or in a city you’re traveling to, simply call 1-800-919-2872 (CUSC) or click on the logo below. It’s that easy!

Remember, all you need to conduct a transaction at a CU Service Center is your credit union name, member account number, a valid photo ID, and the last 4 digits of your social security number. We thank you in advance for supplying this information and helping us protect you and your money from fraudulent activity. Your first 8 transactions per month are free, and $2.50 per transaction, thereafter.

Here’s another benefit of Shared Branching!

Are you a member of another credit union across town or in another state? Ask if they are in Shared Branching. If so, you may now access your other credit union accounts at Coloramo!
